Members of the Chicago Teachers Union will go on strike Thursday, October 17 at 12:01 a.m. if a tentative contract deal is not reached before then, the union’s House of Delegates decided Wednesday night.
For Payton, the day before October 17 is scheduled to be a seminar day; the 17th is an orange day.
The strike will be limited to unresolved contract issues that are mandatory subjects of bargaining under the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act, the House of Delegates said. A walkout would continue until the House of Delegates voted to suspend it.
