40 Payton students were given these options:
1. No strike and a week of… No school Monday, Full day Tuesday, Seminar Wednesday, and Full days Thursday and Friday.
2. One-day strike and a week of… No school Monday, Full day Tuesday, Seminar Wednesday, No school Thursday, and Full day Friday.
3. Two-day strike and a week of… No school Monday, Full day Tuesday, Seminar day Wednesday, and no school Thursday and Friday.
The majority of students wanted the strike to consist of two weekdays and no more. When asked why they did not want the strike to last more than those two days, students replied, in some shape or form, that they did not want to have to make up a whole week of school at the end of the year.
Although Lori Lightfoot has stated that she will not add the missed school days to the end of the year, many students do not want to take any chances.
Even so early in the year Payton students are itching for a break and some well-deserved time to relax.
