First LSC meeting recap 10/19

By Megha Khemka, LSC Correspondent

Following the earlier election process, October’s school council meeting was the first time student representatives Rem Johannknecht ’22, Natalie Cavallo ’22, and myself, Megha Khemka ’24, sat in on the process. Principal Shabazz’s report included a positive assessment of attendance and freshmen grades in the first few weeks of school. She also noted concerns relating to student safety in the neighborhood, continued pick-up and drop-off congestion on Wells, and Payton’s future use of Moody field. An additional presentation of note was LSC member Dr. Bauer’s overview of the upcoming principal selection, in which she emphasized the importance of a thorough, inclusive, and equitable approach to interviewing and decision-making. All members will be attending a mandatory virtual LSC training session next week.
