Payton’s Black Chamber Strings performs “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, the song considered the Black National Anthem for its power and message of liberation and affirmation (1-2). Naomi Caldwell performs Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” for the entire student body, promoting a message of safety and unity (3-4). Devan Brown performs “Stay Woke,” an original poem celebrating Black pride, determination, and resilience (5-6). Payton’s Dancing Divas performed, amid great cheers and applause, at the Black History Month Compass (7-8). The marching band from King College Prep delighted Payton students as surprise guests, performing alongside members of their majorette dance teams (9-12).
