The end of Payton’s 2024-2025 school year concluded with hundreds of free books being left on tables outside of its library. Students grabbed as many books as they could carry, taking advantage of the weed-out in preparation for a deep remodeling.
During the summer and first weeks of school, the library was closed for remodeling. Upon returning from Labor Day weekend, however, students found its doors open to all.
From more tables to revamped carpeting, the library looks refreshed and reinvigorated. Additionally, new chairs along the wall-length windows and among the tables have been added, many of which include rolling capability: a plus for accessibility and ease of movement.

An email from Assistant Principal Paul Arabie informed students, remarking that the updated library hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additionally, Mr. Arabie reminded students that food and drink remain restricted in the library.
Student printing is on hold but “should be available soon,” he said in his email. As of publication, printing is now available.
